An EL Paso woman is seeking legal damages as well as mental health support after being awakened in the middle of the night by blood falling from her ceiling and splattered in her bedroom.

Ana Cardenas, 58, woke up May 8 at 4 a.m. after something dripped on her body.

She assumed it had rained outside and thought a leak from the apartment had sprung a leak on her.

But when Cardenas used the light to examine her room, everything was sprayed with blood and she had blood on both the bed and her body.

Cardenas had left the fan on, and as the blood leaked from the upstairs apartment, the fan splattered her entire bedroom with blood and ruined her mattress, clothes and furniture.

Cardenas called 911 and the stench became so unbearable that he ran out of his apartment and waited for the police to arrive outside.

Guillermo Terrazas, Cardenas’ older brother, drove from Arizona to help his sister, and told Fox television channels that she is traumatized.

“She thought she was in a bad dream, but it was real,” Terraza said.

Police searched the collapsed door and, unfortunately, found the deceased apartment tenant inside.

“He had been dead for several days,” Terrazas said according to police.

“His fluids were dripping on the floor and through his ceiling.” continued Ana’s brother.

Terrazas stated that his sister had only crossed a couple of words with her neighbor but did not know his name and did not know who he was.
