Woman tases autistic man for “staring” at her breasts
Hollie Baker, a 29-year-old woman from Maidstone, Kent, found herself in trouble after tasering 42-year-old Lee Pearson, an autistic man Baker accused of looking at her breasts.
Baker tasered the unsuspecting man with an illegally owned taser before letting out a laugh as the man writhed in pain on the floor. She probably wasn’t so amused when the law caught up with her.
Tasers, which can deliver shocks of up to 50,000 volts, are illegal for the public in the U.K., according to The Sun. Baker was arrested for possession of an incapacitating electrical device and assault by beating.
Although she pleaded guilty, Baker attempted to defend her actions when she appeared at Maidstone Crown Court in the UK.
In addition to telling the court that the autistic man was staring at her breasts, Baker also claimed that she felt uncomfortable because he was standing too close to her as they chatted in the street.
Pearson said she considered both Baker and her boyfriend to be friends and that she had not looked at Baker’s breasts or intended to make her uncomfortable. “No, I was looking at her hair. I wasn’t looking at her in a sexual way,” she said.
The prosecution accused Hollie Baker of being a bully, claiming she had just received “a new toy” and wanted to “have a fit” against Lee Pearson, knowing he was vulnerable.
Although she was accused of running away laughing as Pearson writhed in pain, Baker’s version of events concluded very differently. She claimed she was distraught and ran home to her boyfriend after the incident. “I ran home crying to my partner,” she said.
Baker’s lawyers tried to excuse her behavior, saying she has her own mental disorders. In addition to being bipolar and having schizophrenia, they claimed she had to take prescription medication to sleep.
However, their defense didn’t seem to matter, as she was sentenced to 16 months in jail.
