A 49-year-old woman ended up dead after being hit by a train and dragged approximately 300 meters. She was reportedly driving from her home, police confirmed.
Detroit officials are currently investigating the fatal accident involving a car and a train on the city’s east side, and while it may seem like a movie-like occurrence, it all happened Friday morning.
The accident occurred near St. Jean and Kercheval, very close to the Jefferson plant.
According to reports, A 49-year-old woman ended up dead after being hit by a train and dragged approximately three hundred yards. Police reported that she was apparently traveling westbound in a gold Nissan on Kercheval when she attempted to turn around an oncoming train.
The train, which was bound southbound, struck her before dragging her car along the tracks and leaving her lifeless upon impact.
The accident which occurred around 3 A.M. also has a video of the scene where around 5 am shows the crossing alarm and several nearby police cars with their lights on.

According to Sigalert, which tracks traffic in the metro area, both West Kercheval Street and St. Jean Avenue were closed by police at the railroad crossing due to an accident investigation.
Police have not yet issued an official statement and are expected to do so later this afternoon,
