A U.S. woman gave birth to her baby in the front seat of her Tesla car while it was driving in automatic mode to the hospital in Pennsylvania.
Woman gives birth in the seat of her Tesla car while driving alone to hospital
When the woman and her husband arrived at the clinic in their Tesla car on autopilot, doctors only had to cut the umbilical cord.
“Never in our wildest dreams would we have expected it to happen in the front seat of our car,” the husband told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Yiran Sherry’s contractions began on Sept. 9 when her partner, Keating Sherry, was about to take their son to school. The man then walked his wife to their Tesla vehicle and the little family headed to a hospital, but got stuck in traffic.
The husband activated the vehicle’s automatic mode and tried to help Yiran.
“She was squeezing my hand so hard I thought she was going to tear it apart. She was having intense contractions, so every now and then I would look back and see my other child, just to make sure she was okay,” he stated.
When they arrived at the clinic, the doctors only had to cut the umbilical cord because labor was already over.
“It was a surreal experience, but also incredibly beautiful in a sense, because Rafa was there in the back seat, we were all together,” Keating said.
“Thank you, great engineers at Tesla, for the brilliant autopilot design,” he added.
