A Texas woman is facing charges after she was caught on viral video throwing soup in the face of a restaurant worker. Luckily, the woman was not injured after the attack.
Woman arrested after throwing hot soup in worker’s face
The incident occurred on Nov. 7 after the woman called the Sol De Jalisco restaurant in Temple, Texas, to complain about the soup she had picked up there.
The woman later returned to the restaurant, where she was videotaped throwing the soup at the employee with whom she had argued over the phone about the soup.
The restaurant employee was identified as Jannelle Broland, while police obtained no information about the woman who threw the soup, NBC-affiliated news channel KCEN-TV reported.
Broland subsequently made two videos on TikTok to explain her version of the incident.
Both videos have gone viral.
In one of the videos, Broland said the customer had claimed that the soup she had picked up was so hot that the plastic lid placed on top had melted.
Broland indicated that she apologized to the customer and offered a refund, but the angry customer proceeded to insult her and later returned to the restaurant.
Broland noted that he told the customer that he would help her if she would stop the aggression, claiming that the customer did not listen to the constant offers of a refund.
The customer was videotaped throwing the contents of the soup cup through the restaurant’s cash register at Broland, after which she promptly left the restaurant.
“My eyes were burning, my nose was bleeding, I was in a lot of pain. By the time I cleaned myself up and could almost see again, there were already customers and staff outside following her,” she mentioned in the second TikTok video.
