Woman arrested after stabbing 6-year-old child to death and injuring another
A 6-year-old girl was stabbed to death and another child was injured, in Dallas on Thursday, while one person is in custody, police said.
The incident occurred at a home in the 2900 block of Frazier Street.
Police said they learned that the girl and another minor had been stabbed by an adult female.
Officers were called to a residence in the 2900 block of Frazier Street, southeast of Fair Park, shortly before 2 p.m. When officers arrived, a witness told them that an adult female had stabbed the two children.
According to police, a witness who also lived in the home asked a neighbor for help in restraining the suspect and getting help for the victims.
“She was out of place. They said she had attacked the young girl. He restrained her and then put the victim in the car,” said community activist Lamont Levels, who lives nearby and said he was one of several neighbors who called 911.
Police said the neighbor took the 6-year-old girl to a fire station, where she was transported to a hospital. She later died of her injuries.
The other minor victim is in stable condition at the hospital. The minor, whose age has not been disclosed, was also hospitalized.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody, but no further details were immediately available. The relationship between the suspect and the victims is also unknown.
Authorities have not confirmed further details and investigators have not disclosed any motive or reason for the attacks.
