In a tragic turn of events, a 15-year-old girl lost her life after a fall at the site of a closed factory in Shawinigan, located northeast of Montreal. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon when one of her relatives alerted emergency services after she fell into a silo at the former Belgo factory, a paper mill that has been out of operation since 2008.

They climbed to the top of a silo, but the situation quickly turned dire when the girl fell into the concrete and metal structure, becoming trapped inside. Local firefighters in Shawinigan, approximately 165 kilometers from Montreal, promptly called for assistance from their counterparts in nearby Trois-Rivières to conduct a confined space rescue operation.
After a challenging effort, the young victim was located and freed early Saturday morning, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
