Unexpected memories from the past
Tori Spelling, known for her iconic role as Donna Martin in the beloved series Beverly Hills 90210, recently took to Instagram to share a surprising holiday memory that left her with a lasting mark—literally. In a nostalgic post, she shared a throwback photo with her co-star Brian Austin Green from the 1992 Hollywood Christmas parade, a moment that was supposed to be festive but turned unexpectedly painful.
A festive ride gone wrong
Spelling reminisced about the excitement of participating in the parade, stating, “I had grown up watching this event on TV and I was beyond excited that Donna + David had been asked to ride on an antique car through the parade.
It was 1992 and ‘90210’ was at its prime.” However, her joy was short-lived when she experienced a sharp pain in her leg during the ride. “I remember waving to the crowds as our car moved through the parade and suddenly feeling a hot sharp pain on my leg,” she recounted.
From drama to reality
Initially, Spelling thought she was being dramatic, a trait she humorously acknowledged. “I told Green, ‘omg I’ve been shot!’ and he replied in our usual banter, ‘You’re being dramatic.’ Fair, he knew me well,” she joked.
But the reality of the situation hit her when she discovered a burn hole in her jeans after the parade. “All teen angst aside, after the parade I did check my jeans and sure enough there was a burn hole on my upper Levi thigh,” she shared.
“I was okay; the 501’s were not.” This incident left a lasting impression on her, making her anxious about riding in parades for decades.
Embracing the memories
Despite the painful memory, Spelling expressed her love for the holiday tradition. “It took me decades to be able to ride in another parade,” she admitted, but she still enjoys watching the event on TV with her children.
“And, the whole experience added to my Christmas sTORIes,” she added, showcasing her ability to find humor in the situation. Spelling’s story serves as a reminder that even in the midst of unexpected challenges, the spirit of the holidays can still shine through.
