Timothée Chalamet has shared the first photo of him dressed as Willy Wonka for his upcoming film that dives into the origins of Roald Dahl’s iconic character.

The American actor is unmistakable as the chocolate factory leader as he sports his legendary top hat and red velvet jacket.

The image was shared by Chalamet on social media and, as expected, people have been going crazy over the teaser.

One person wrote, “I’m so proud of everything he does.”

Another added: “So far his Wonka is the closest to how I remember Wonka from the book sketches!”.

According to Deadline, the film will incorporate musical numbers, which means we will get to see Timothée singing and dancing.

The film will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his life before he opened his magical factory. Paddington director Paul King will helm the project and the script will be written by comedian Simon Farnaby.

King has been involved in bringing this film to life since 2018, so it has been in the works for some time. The big piece of the puzzle has been finding his young Willy Wonka and Timothée will no doubt do an amazing job.

But don’t hold your breath for the film, as it’s not expected to hit the big screen until March 2023.

Willy Wonka was first imagined in Roald Dahl’s 1964 book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and later played by Gene Wilder in the 1971 film adaptation Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

The film was adapted again by Tim Burton in 2005 (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and we saw Johnny Depp step into the role of Wonka.

Depp was praised for bringing a quirky reimagining of the Wonka character and improving on Wilder’s performance.

However, unfortunately for everyone, there are no plot details on what Wonka will dive into.
