Tiger in Houston almost shot by neighbor, police chase ensues

Police received a call about the tiger on Sunday at 20:00, but by the time they showed up the animal was gone.

Police were informed that the suspect – the tiger’s alleged owner – had allegedly taken the tiger in a white Jeep Cherokee and fled.

We are told that police discovered the vehicle some time later, and a chase ensued, but they ended up losing it.

They have located the license plate and are trying to locate the individual.

HPD says they believe the man is keeping the tiger illegally in the area.

Check out this wild scene, unfolding Sunday in Memorial Burb, where a neighbor who is reportedly a retired sheriff’s deputy – came face to face with the striped animal.

The man had drawn his gun when he tried to pull to stop, but the beast kept crawling toward him

The supposed owner tells the policeman not to shoot him, and that he will take care of catching the animal, which he successfully accomplished without any bullets coming out.

You can even see that the tiger has a collar, and seems to be quite comfortable when the man is out in his front yard.

At this point there is really no other context much different than that this tiger appears to have belonged to someone from one of the surrounding houses and somehow fled.

It is unclear if anyone has been charged – but the police are certainly aware of it.

It is illegal to have exotic pets in the city of Houston, but it appears that you can have a tiger in the vicinity of Harris County, as long as you have all the right documents and great insurance.
