A three-year-old girl, Aylee Gordon, died last December 25, Christmas Day, after accidentally shooting herself in the head with a firearm. The events occurred in Henderson County, south of Asheville, North Carolina, United States.

At around 2:30 a.m., the child’s father, a retired captain with the Sheriff’s Office, called 911 to report that the child had accidentally picked up a gun and shot herself with it.
She was rushed by helicopter to the hospital
The girl was flown by helicopter to Mission Hospital for emergency surgery by doctors. Unfortunately, they were unable to do anything for her and she died last Tuesday, according to CNN. The investigations to clarify the facts continue.
Last year in the United States, more than 5,000 children under the age of 18 were killed or injured in gun incidents, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
