This is Jacob’s Well, the most treacherous and dangerous underwater cave for divers
Located in Texas, USA, this natural spring has several caves that, due to their difficult access, have claimed the lives of several intrepid divers.
Jacob’s Well is a well-known artesian spring located in the bed of Cypress Creek as it passes through Wimberley, Texas (USA), whose crystalline waters and its complex and risky system of caves and underwater aquifers with which it connects have attracted many tourists, bathers and divers for years.
Thanks to these groundwater connections, clean and pure water has been flowing from the well every day for thousands of years, which has also attracted the interest of scientists and artists.
However, the death in its tunnels of at least eight divers, seven men and one woman, who ventured to explore it too far, has turned this well into one of the most dangerous places on the planet, which is nevertheless an attraction for lovers of risk and extreme sports.
The second cave, which is 24 meters deep, has a treacherous narrow entrance where a local student drowned when he got stuck in it.
Both the second and third caves are partly made of loose gravel, so intrepid divers are careful not to touch it when passing by so that it does not play a trick on them.
The fourth and last cave, known as the ‘virgin cave’, is also the most difficult to access, since it is the deepest and has a very narrow neck through which a diver with an oxygen cylinder can barely pass.
In addition, there are many limestone sediments that, if accidentally agitated, can cause a collapse in the cave, making it impossible to get out of it.
