The unsettling case of a pregnant woman's disappearance in Indiana raises many questions.

Background on Emma Baum’s Disappearance

In a heart-wrenching case that has captured the attention of many, 25-year-old Emma Baum vanished from Gary, Indiana, on October 10, just days before she was due to give birth to her fourth child.

Emma, a devoted mother of three, was last seen being dropped off at her boyfriend’s house. Her family, particularly her sister Hailey Baum-Waddell, has been vocal about their concerns and the emotional toll this situation has taken on them.

“Looking for Emma has been a very struggling thing for everybody, mentally and physically and emotionally… but we’re not going to stop looking for her,” Baum-Waddell stated, emphasizing the family’s determination to find Emma.

Community Involvement and Search Efforts

After Emma was reported missing on October 28, the local community rallied together to assist in the search efforts. The Gary Police Department has utilized K-9 units and conducted searches in various locations, including homes and recreational vehicles. Baum-Waddell and other family members have taken to social media to organize search parties, drawing hundreds of volunteers eager to help.

“There’s been a lot of people who have offered to come out and look for her,” Baum-Waddell shared, highlighting the community’s support during this difficult time.

Suspicion Surrounding Emma’s Boyfriend

As the investigation continues, suspicions have arisen regarding Emma’s boyfriend.

Baum-Waddell believes he may be hiding crucial information about her disappearance. “We have not charged anyone with the disappearance of Emma Baum, and she has not been located yet,” stated Gary Police Cmdr. Jack Hamady. The boyfriend, who was previously in custody for unrelated charges, has since been released but remains under scrutiny.

Family members are adamant that Emma would never willingly disappear, especially with her close bond to her children. “For her not to be here to see him on Christmas or Thanksgiving… it’s unreal. There’s no way she would do that to him,” Baum-Waddell expressed, underscoring the family’s hope for Emma’s safe return.
