The body of the first girl, who detectives say was between 10 and 12 years old, was seen Tuesday afternoon outside a condominium complex in Lauderhill, near Fort Lauderdale.

The second body was found just after 9 p.m., not far from the first body found.

Police said no parents had come forward to say their son was missing Tuesday night.

First, authorities have not been beholden because the first girl showed no signs of trauma said Michael Santiago during a news conference.

He said investigators believe they have identified the first girl, but are not confirming her identity because the family had not been notified.

After the first body was found, detectives went along the canal that runs behind the Habitat II condominiums, but nothing else had been found, Santiago said.

Then, at 8:45, police received a 911 call from someone who saw the body of the second boy. The first boy was wearing denim shorts and a gray shirt with rainbow lettering of the word “Danza.”

Tuesday afternoon, detectives knocked on doors in the neighborhood and asked neighbors if they knew the girl. Police believe she lived in the complex.

Neighbors told the newspaper that the girl had been seen Monday with another girl. And that they saw a woman swimming in the canal Monday night, also commenting that she was reading a bible not far from the first body found.

Police told Wsvn that both girls are no more than 11 or 12 years old. Rawna Johnson, 51, told the newspaper she was sitting near the canal Tuesday when she saw the body in the water.
