Transit enhancements for a star-studded weekend
As excitement builds for Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated performances in Vancouver, TransLink is stepping up its game to ensure fans can easily access BC Place. With the pop superstar set to wrap up her record-breaking Eras Tour, the city is bracing for an influx of concertgoers.
The transit authority has announced a series of enhancements aimed at accommodating the tens of thousands expected to attend the shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Increased SkyTrain frequency and special shuttles
To manage the expected surge in demand, TransLink will increase the frequency of SkyTrain services on concert nights.
The last trains on the Canada and Expo lines will be departing at 1 a.m. and a.m., respectively, ensuring that fans can enjoy the concert without worrying about transportation home. Additionally, special Swift shuttles will be in operation, providing direct transport between Waterfront station and BC Place, making it easier for fans to get to and from the venue.
SeaBus and Westcoast Express services
The SeaBus will also play a crucial role in the transit plan, running every 10 minutes starting at 3 p.m. on concert days, with service continuing until 1 a.m. This will provide fans from the North Shore with a convenient option to join the festivities.
Moreover, a special weekend Westcoast Express train is scheduled for Saturday, departing from Mission at 4 p.m. and returning at midnight, catering to those traveling from further afield.
Ferry services ramping up for concertgoers
It’s not just the trains that are getting a boost; ferry services are also enhancing their schedules.
Hullo, the passenger ferry service, is introducing special Nanaimo-bound sailings each concert night, with departures from Vancouver at midnight and 1 a.m. BC Ferries is also stepping up, adding extra sailings for concertgoers. On Friday, fans can catch additional sailings between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen at 5 a.m.
and 11 p.m., while Sunday will see a late-night sailing from Swartz Bay at 11 p.m. and a return trip at 1 a.m. on Monday morning.
