Squid Game is the phenomenon of the moment. The South Korean TV series on Netflix is on everyone’s lips, even those who really shouldn’t have watched it.
Squid Game is also a craze among kids: “They play 1,2,3 stars and those who lose get a slap in the face.”
Squid Game is a notoriously violent series and therefore forbidden to minors , but many do not seem to have paid attention to this detail, even showing it to their children. As in Belgium, where a school fell into a storm of controversy because of the small Squid Game emulators.
It is known that children are taken to emulate : sponges ready to assimilate everything that is proposed to them and then repeat it. But when it comes to a massacre game, like the one told in the Netflix TV series, it would certainly be better to avoid it.
In Dinant, a small town of just over 10 thousand souls, a mother denounced the violence suffered by her daughter, while playing 1, 2, 3 stars with her friends, but with the Squid Game variant.
No motion detectors or sniper rifles loaded in the arms, but slaps.
Those who were seen moving by those who counted got a good slap in the face.
“All the losers were slapped,” the woman said. My daughter didn’t understand why. She doesn’t know the Squid Game, she hasn’t seen any clips or anything, I don’t understand why so many kids play with it, since it’s an 18-year-old series.
I am afraid my daughter will go home hurt .
To restore order and extinguish the controversies that have arisen around the municipal school Erquelinnes Béguinage Hainaut, the institute has decided to issue a press release on social networks addressed to parents of children who are ready to move to the second game.
This is what the Dinant school writes: “Dear parents, you have probably already heard about the Squid Game series. In this series, the characters play games for children and if they lose, they are eliminated…. This series is forbidden for children under 18 because of its violent scenes. Therefore, our students have fun playing 1-2-3 stars (as in the series) and the one who loses gets beaten.
We are very vigilant to stop this dangerous and unhealthy game! We look forward to your support and collaboration to make your children aware of the consequences it can bring. Sanctions will be imposed on children who continue this game (hitting other children… obviously 1-2-3 stars are allowed!).”
