South Africa’s biggest rhino poacher, Mubaza, was shot dead in the town of HazyView and his car was hit by at least 17 bullets. Despite medical attention, nothing could be done to save his life and the common criminal died while being transported to the hospital.
The events occurred last Thursday, June 17, while Petros Mabuza was in his parked car.
South Africa’s biggest rhino poacher shot dead
Known as “Mr. Big” or “Mshengu“, Mabuza was involved in rhino poaching and other crimes in the African country.
However, last Thursday he was confirmed after being shot in his own vehicle.
Mabuza was shot while in the town of HazyView and his car was shot at least 17 times. Despite medical attention, the common criminal died while being transported to Kiaat Hospital in Mbombela.
“The man was shot in broad daylight in the city, in front of people and we believe people have seen and know the suspects.
We ask the public to contact the police anonymously,” Hlathi asked.
In the images, retrieved from different media, a black car is seen next to Petros’ orange car, which was parked under the shade of a tree.
“We don’t want to speculate whether this is adjacent to the gang or not, but the investigation will take us,” Hlathi said.
For his part, Jamie Joseph, who belongs to the Saving the Wild organization and was closely following Mabuza’s actions, confirmed the death via the organization’s Facebook: “I have seen his face and can confirm it… Mabuza has died”.
