Several people have been killed and several others injured in a shooting in San Jose (California), while the alleged perpetrator of the incident has died, the local police spokesman said Wednesday at a press conference.
“I can confirm multiple wounded and multiple dead,” said the spokesman, who declined to offer specific casualty figures because the investigation is ongoing and the information is “preliminary.”
The incident occurred at the facilities of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, located south of the San Francisco Bay Area and including the city of San Jose.
Among the victims are employees of that government entity, the police spokesman said.
The perpetrator of the shooting has died, but police have not yet explained the circumstances of his death. Police responded to the crime scene after receiving several calls from neighbors to the 911 emergency number to alert them of what was happening.
