Shooting at birthday party in Colorado Springs has left six dead, police say
Colorado Springs police assume the attacker was the boyfriend of one of the victims.
None of the children were injured in the attack.
Six people were killed early Sunday morning during a birthday party in the city of Colorado Springs (Colorado), and the perpetrator of the attack committed suicide, local police said in a statement.
Police responded to a call that became aware of the shooting at 00:18 hours on Sunday.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found six adults deceased and another injured man who was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
According to police, a group of children and adults were celebrating a birthday party when the shooting occurred.

The children who were at the birthday party were not injured and are now in the care of other family members, Colorado Springs police said in their statement.
The event took place in a mobile home park, a type of prefabricated housing where low-income Americans often live.
In all of 2020, there were a total of 610 such incidents in the United States, up from 417 in 2019, according to that source.
U.S. President Joe Biden has called gun violence in the country an “international disgrace.”
After calling them an “international disgrace” he has called for stricter regulations to restrict the carrying and marketing of guns.
