Earlier this month, Bachelor host Chris Harrison resigned from the show after speaking in a way that spoke racism to screw up former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay.
Rachel Lindsay talked about whether she would consider “The Bachelor”
Chris Harrison announced on Saturday, February 13th that he will be temporarily stepping up to host the Bachelor’s degree after his controversial interview with Rachel Lindsay earlier this week.
Harrison outraged Bachelor fans on Tuesday, February 9th when he recommended in an interview with Lindsay, 35, for extra because people need to have “pity” for Rachael Kirkconnell amid racism allegations. Bachelor Nation members got together to call him after the interview. Harrison made a public apology that Lindsay couldn’t quickly accept.
“By the time I finished this interview with Chris Harrison, he had no problem with it. He was fine. He traced me, he appreciated the conversation.
It was like: The Higher Learning Podcast. Several Bachelor Nation stars spoke amid the scandal, some even calling for Harrison’s fire. Taylor Nolan, who appeared in the 21st season of the Bachelor’s degree, began an online petition to demolish the host from his position. More than 30,000 people signed it.
“Is it a good look in 2018 or isn’t it a good look in 2021?” Chris asked Lindsay in addition to the current Bachelor candidate Rachael McConnell with an antebellum party (which she has since apologized).
Harrison won’t be hosting after the final rose special this season – and it’s still unclear if he’ll be returning to the show at all. There are already reports that Lindsay could replace Harrison for the gig.
But what if Lindsay was asked to take over Harrison’s job entirely? She addressed one such possibility on an upcoming episode of Black Girls Texting Podcast (Via People).
“Honestly, I can’t even go there,” she began, noting that Harrison’s departure from the show is temporary.
“It’s hard for me to even think about hosting because Bachelor Nation has changed my life in the best possible way. But at the same time, it’s toxic … and I don’t know if I’ll expose myself would like to. ”
“I have spent the past few days hearing the pain my words have caused and I am deeply cumbersome. My ignorance has damaged friends, colleagues, and strangers alike. I have no one but myself for what I said the way I spoke. I set standards for myself and haven’t met them. I feel this with every fiber of my being. Now that I’ve taught my kids to stand up and to own their actions, I’ll do the same “, he wrote.
Lindsay expressed the public’s perception of the job. Would I even think that way? But that’s the kind of thing people say about me. So I don’t know if this is for me, this is for me ”
Lindsay also has another concern: the “freedom to say how I feel and to request a change, I couldn’t pretend so in the same way when I was the host,” she said before adding: ” But on the flip side, if I was then I would be a person in power who could say, “Hey, we have to do this.” ”
“I always preached that more than anything,” explained Lindsay. “To have more than one host substitute, you have to have someone in power who is a person of color, who gets it, who understands.”
“Because if we see time and time again, even if we still don’t get with the lead [of paint], then you still don’t get it because we see things that don’t happen, don’t.” The 49-year-old ABC personality posted a statement on Instagram announcing his decision.
Harrison’s statement continued, “By apologizing for historical racism,” I defended it. I have used the term “guard police” which is unacceptable. I am ashamed of how unformed I was. I was so wrong ”
The Texas native announced that he “will be stepping aside for a while and will not be attending after the final rose special.” Harrison noted that he continued “to devote to being educated at a deep and productive level. “To see how the Bachelor Nation responded to Chris Harrison’s temporary move, continue scrolling.
