The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is stepping up its game as it prepares for the second season. Recently, the league revealed the highly anticipated jersey designs for its six teams: the Toronto Sceptres, Montreal Victoire, Ottawa Charge, Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, and New York Sirens.
Each jersey is not just a piece of clothing; it’s a statement of identity, culture, and pride for the teams and their fans.
Reflecting team identities
In a move that resonates with the Gen Z audience, the PWHL has ensured that each jersey design reflects the unique identity of its respective team.
The league collaborated with Creative Agency Flower Shop and Bauer, a leading sports equipment manufacturer, to create these eye-catching designs. According to Kanan Bhatt-Shah, the PWHL’s vice-president of brand and marketing, the goal was to create jerseys that players and fans would be proud to wear.
“These jerseys mark the latest evolution in our league’s history,” said Amy Scheer, the senior vice president of business operations. “We can’t wait to see them showcased both on the ice and in the stands.”
Excitement builds for the new season
The excitement surrounding the new jerseys is palpable, especially with the season opener set for November 30. Each team will play 30 regular-season games, an increase from the previous season, allowing fans to enjoy more thrilling hockey action. Training camps are already underway, with teams preparing to finalize their rosters.
The anticipation is building as fans eagerly await the announcement of the 23-player rosters, which will be revealed on November 27.
More than just a game
The PWHL is not just about hockey; it’s about community, empowerment, and representation.
The league aims to inspire young athletes and fans alike, showing them that women’s sports are just as exciting and competitive. The new jerseys symbolize this commitment, serving as a reminder that every player on the ice is a role model for the next generation. As the league continues to grow, it’s clear that the PWHL is dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for all.
