Family members tell WGN that a pregnant mother was taken to the hospital after a tree crashed through her roof.
Katie Wilson’s family says she was seven months pregnant when the tornado hit their Woodridge home Sunday.
Katie, Bryan and their daughter Ryen Wilson sought shelter in their Woodridge home as the EF-3 tornado passed through. Katie’s aunt, Gina Gordey, says a tree crashed through the family’s roof and seriously injured her.
She was taken to advocate at a Good Samaritan hospital in Downners Grove, but the couple’s unborn child does not survive.
After being airlifted to the University of Chicago Hospital, news broke that the unborn baby did not survive.
Gordey has started a Gofundme page to raise money for medical bills and burial expenses for Wilson’s unborn child.
In a statement on WGN, the family said, “We are so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support Katie and our family have received.
It is a testament to how amazing Katie’s community is, we are so grateful.”
