At a time when people are looking for skin lightening and whitening creams, this South Sudanese model is embracing her dark complexion with pride. Nyakim Gatwech is one of a kind. She is bold and beautiful.
Nyakim Gatwech, the model who is known as the ‘queen of dark’
Her moonlight-dark skin has earned her the nickname ‘Queen of Darkness’ and it just goes to show that beauty comes in all shades.
Her dark skin helped her give birth to a thriving modeling career with a net worth of $4 million.
Gatwech was born in Ethiopia to South Sudanese parents who were forced to constantly move to different places as refugees due to the conflict in the country. When she immigrated to the United States to Buffalo, New York, she had to adapt to a new culture that came with its challenges.
At only 27 years old, Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech, has made her way on various catwalks thanks to her beauty and spectacular skin color, same that has led her to be known as ‘the queen of darkness’.
Gatwetch began her modeling career after participating in a runway show at St. Cloud State University and since then she has not stopped growing in modeling, putting aside the prejudices she had to bear during her childhood when she was teased by other children because of her skin color.
Denying the option offered to her to lighten her skin tone, Nyakim proudly wears her skin tone, regardless of the criticism she still receives from some.
