Mother captures pedophile who was obsessed with her toddler at Walmart

A mother walking through the aisles of a Walmart in Washington was able to capture who could be a pedophile obsessed with her little boy, taking pictures of him, the woman asked the man to show her the camera of his cell phone and the surprise was great for her.

Kathy Wolcott was shopping with her 3-year-old son when she saw a stranger lurking nearby in a grocery aisle at Walmart. She saw the flash on her phone’s camera flash and realized she was capturing a photograph of her unsuspecting son.

When she confronted the creepy man, demanding to see the photos on her phone, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Kathy asked him to go to her cell phone camera. “I hit the gallery button and I see row after row of kids in Walmart that day that he was just taking pictures of.”

The anonymous man had spent the afternoon photographing innocent young children in the store, unbeknownst to their parents. The confrontation unnerved the man. After being caught photographing children, he panicked and ran out of the store.

“Unfortunately, it’s not a crime,” Deputy Chief Crain said. “People have the ability to take photographs. Nowadays, when everyone has a cell phone, there’s a greater likelihood of pictures being taken.”

Evidently, strangers can take pictures of your kids all they want, and it’s perfectly legal, although it’s pretty kinky. Police officers caught up with the suspect and investigated the case, but were unable to make an arrest.

The law on this, or lack thereof, has once again protected society’s predators rather than the child victims. Although police said Kathy Wolcott did everything right, strangers taking pictures of children is not illegal as long as they are not pornographic. “This man got away with taking pictures of so many children that day,” Kathy said.

While photographing children is not always a crime, it is also not always appropriate. This incident serves as a reminder for parents to keep a close eye on their children and to keep an even closer eye on who is watching them.
