A mother has claimed that she was banned from attending a meeting at her son’s school for wearing a low-cut blouse that showed off her cleavage. She said she was denied entry to the college because her white blouse revealed her cleavage while she insisted her attire was not vulgar.
Mom banned from meeting at her son’s school for wearing low-cut blouse
Isabel Castro went to the Institución Educativa Instituto Técnico Superior Industrial in Soledad, Colombia, with her husband Cristian Caviedes to discuss Covid-19 rules at the school.
She said she was denied entrance to the university because her white blouse revealed her cleavage and she insisted that her attire was not vulgar.
The mom said, “I came out of the house and looking at myself in the mirror I thought I was well dressed. I was wearing jeans and a fairly low-cut blouse but far from vulgar.”
She claims a member of staff told her: “You can’t come in like that.
When you come to school, you can’t come dressed like that. Read the rule book.”
The mother-of-three said the school had “an extreme reaction”, but believed she was “well dressed”.
Isabel said, “I feel discriminated against because no one has the right to point fingers, judge or criticize another person.
I felt well dressed, the fact that I have three children does not mean I have to walk around covered up, or consider myself ugly and dour without expressing my happiness. I have always felt pretty.
Her husband added: “Think of all the women who suffer this kind of harassment right now, for example in Afghanistan.
And then you wonder how this school official wants people to dress.”
Gemma O’Reilly was let down by her nanny at the last minute and begged teachers to make an exception so she could see her daughter Bella on stage.
But the 26-year-old says the teacher stood with her arm around the door and told her “no exceptions”.
