Everything in detail! Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing a special bracelet that once belonged to her late mother-in-law during her extensive interview due to air on March 7 on CBS.
The interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, titled “Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special,” will air on March 7th.
“They wanted to wear the bracelet to have [Harry’s] mother with them during the interview,” a spokesman for the former actress told Today.
Meghan Markle, who is expecting her second child with Prince Harry, also wore an Armani dress adorned with a lotus flower.
She combined the dress with black stilettos, earrings, and a Pippa Small necklace. Her hair is pulled back in a low chignon, with a few face parts in front.
While the bracelet is an undeniably sentimental touch to Markle’s outfit, it certainly isn’t the first time she’s rocked family heirlooms.
In fact, she has worn the crown jewels since her engagement. When designing a ring for the former Suits actress, Prince Harry made sure to include diamonds that belonged to his mother.
“The ring is yellow gold because that’s [Meghan’s] favorite, and the main stone itself, which I sourced from Botswana, and the little diamonds on either side are from my mom’s jewelry collection to make sure she is on this crazy trip with us is together, “said Prince Harry BBC in 2017 in an interview.
Meghan Markle has also taken Princess Diana’s fashion notes for many royal engagements. For example, the Archwell Audio host wore a black and white outfit for Royal Ascot in 2018 that was very similar to a Princess Diana worn three decades earlier.
The couple wanted Diana to be with them, spiritually, for the interview.
In 2018, Markle – who is expecting her second child – was spotted donning Diana’s butterfly earrings and gold bracelet as she attended events in Sydney, Australia for her and Prince Harry’s first royal tour. The Duchess of Sussex combined the jewelry with a fitted cream-colored dress by Australian designer Karen Gee.
Diana wore the butterfly earrings for her trip to Canada in 1986, a year after giving birth to Harry, People reported. The deceased princess had worn a blue dress and a matching butterfly necklace with earrings.
In a clip for the couple’s upcoming interview with Winfrey, Harry referred to the memory of his late mother, who had to find her way around after the divorce from Prince Charles and her.
More recently, the royal couple honored Princess Diana in revealing Meghan Markle’s second pregnancy. On Sunday, February 14, announced that they were expecting their second child. Valentine’s Day is the same day that Princess Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry 37 years earlier.
“My biggest concern was that history would repeat itself,” Prince Harry said in the teaser interview. “I’m just very relieved and happy to sit here and speak to you with my wife by my side because I can’t imagine what it must have been like when she went through this process all those years ago on her own. Because it was incredibly difficult for both of us. But at least we did.”
