After failing to make it into the cockpit, a man jumped from the emergency exit of the plane that was ready to take flight at Los Angeles International Airport.

As United Airlines Flight 5365 was preparing to take off from Los Angeles International Airport on Friday night the passenger identified as: Luis Antonio Victoria Dominguez, 33, from La Paz, Mexico, turned to his seatmate, who in this case was a woman, and whispered that he was going to jump, the woman says.

“I’m serious, I’m going to jump,” the woman recalls him telling her.

The man who panicked on the moving plane, charged into the cockpit and then broke his leg after jumping out of an emergency exit, confessing to police that he had been using “a lot” of methamphetamine in the days leading up to the incident.

According to reports in The Washington Post claim that Luis Antonio Victoria Dominguez, 33, leaned over to the passenger next to him and told him he would try to escape the plane. “I mean it,” he reportedly whispered in his ear.

The man ran to the front of the plane and, when he discovered the cabin was closed, activated an emergency exit, jumped out, but missed the slide and broke his leg.

He told authorities that he had been smoking methamphetamine “on and off” for days prior to Friday night’s incident, and was “coming down from all the drugs he had taken the last few days” when he boarded the plane.

The individual faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.
