Man drags woman into Bronx woods and strangles her in broad daylight
A man dragged a Jane Doe into a wooded area of City Island in the Bronx and began strangling her during a horrific daylight attack last week, according to police.
The victim, 31, was walking along a trail at City Island Road and Shore Road at 3:30 p.m.
On June 23, the suspect approached her from behind, covered her nose and mouth and dragged her into the woods, according to police.
There, he pinned her face down, mounted her and began wringing her neck, authorities said.
The victim was able to scream, which prompted a bicyclist to approach from the road. The victim suffered scratches and bruises to her arms, legs and back and was treated at the scene by emergency medical services.
The suspect, who remains at large, is shown in a sketch released by police Thursday night. He is black, approximately 5 feet tall, with a slim build and a well-groomed appearance, according to police.
