Man beats and throws son against wall several times for shopping on Internet
According to police, Andrew Wayne Atkerson was arrested in Palm Coast on felony child abuse charges for beating his son and repeatedly throwing him against a wall.
It was the minor’s mother who went to the corresponding authorities to denounce her son’s father; after she noticed that the minor had bruises on several parts of his body and even had black eyes due to the beating his father gave him.
The mother, whose name is unknown, indicated that the child was forbidden to make online purchases; but he did not respect the rule imposed by his father and as a result he was beaten.
Through a press release Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly pointed out that it is not wrong for parents to set limits for their children, but it should never come to blows.
“No child should have to endure what this man did to his child. It seems that this man does not have the ability to control his anger. Parents have the right to discipline their children, but they cannot overdo it, as happened in this case,” said Rick Staly.
He was also grateful that the boy’s mother has spoken out in this case of child violence.
The News-Journal has learned that the minor’s father has an extensive criminal history and was on probation for felony assault in 2017.
