Blake Montgomery’s standout performance

In a gripping encounter on November 29, Blake Montgomery showcased his talent by scoring twice and assisting in a crucial play, leading the London Knights to a 5-4 shootout victory over the Kingston Frontenacs.

This win marks the Knights’ 17th consecutive triumph, inching closer to their franchise record of 24 wins and the OHL record of 25 straight victories. Montgomery’s contributions were pivotal, especially as he capitalized on a rare opportunity that opened the scoring for London.

After a breakaway attempt by Sam Dickinson was thwarted, Montgomery swooped in to push the puck over the goal line, giving the Knights an early lead.

A rollercoaster of a game

The game was a rollercoaster ride, with both teams exchanging leads in a thrilling third period.

After the Knights initially took a 2-1 lead thanks to Sam O’Reilly’s impressive goal, the Frontenacs responded with two quick goals, putting them ahead 3-2. However, Montgomery quickly leveled the score again, demonstrating his knack for being in the right place at the right time.

The back-and-forth nature of the game kept fans on the edge of their seats, culminating in a dramatic finish that saw Kingston tie the game with just 29.4 seconds left in regulation. This intense back-and-forth showcased the resilience and skill of both teams, making it a memorable match for fans.

Goaltending heroics and future matchups

In addition to Montgomery’s offensive prowess, goaltender Auston Elliott played a crucial role in securing the victory. Facing a staggering 40 shots, Elliott’s performance was nothing short of heroic, stopping 36 shots during regulation and two more in the shootout.

With this win, Elliott improved his record to a perfect 10-0 in a Knights uniform, solidifying his position as a key player for the team. Looking ahead, the Knights will conclude their eastern road trip against the Ottawa 67’s on December 1. Given their recent success against Ottawa, having won the last eight matchups, fans are eager to see if the Knights can continue their winning streak.
