Knights showcase skill and determination
The London Knights delivered an electrifying performance on March 21, defeating the Windsor Spitfires 6-2 at Canada Life Place. This victory not only showcased the Knights’ skill but also solidified their position in the league, bringing their season total to an impressive 112 points.
This achievement ranks second in franchise history, just behind the legendary 2004-05 Knights team, which was honored as the Team of the Century.
Star players shine bright
Denver Barkey, Sam Dickinson, and Kasper Halttunen each scored twice, leading the charge for the Knights.
Barkey had a standout night with four points, including two goals and two assists, marking a triumphant return after missing nine games due to an upper-body injury. Dickinson also made headlines, scoring two goals and assisting on another, bringing his season total to 90 points.
This milestone places him among an elite group of OHL defensemen, becoming only the 17th player since 1980 to reach this mark.
Game highlights and playoff preparations
The game kicked off with Dickinson scoring early in the first period, only for Windsor to equalize shortly after.
However, the Knights quickly regained the lead, with Dickinson netting his 29th goal of the season. As the game progressed, London maintained control, with Barkey and Halttunen contributing significantly to the scoreline. The Knights capitalized on their power play opportunities, going 2-for-5, while also showcasing a strong defensive effort, successfully killing all four penalties.
As the playoffs approach, the Knights are gearing up for their first game against either the Sarnia Sting or the Owen Sound Attack on March 28. Fans are encouraged to wear white to create a “Whiteout” atmosphere, with special shirts available for purchase at the Knights Armouries.
This community spirit is vital as the team aims to carry their momentum into the postseason.
Looking ahead
With the regular season winding down, the Knights will face the Erie Otters in their final game on March 30. After a rocky start to the season against the Otters, the Knights have since turned the tide, winning all four subsequent meetings. As they prepare for the playoffs, the Knights are not just focused on individual achievements but also on building a cohesive team dynamic that can carry them through the challenges ahead.
