A video posted on Twitter shows the “The Truth Hurts” singer answering questions and taking selfies with fans when someone behind the camera is heard asking if she is planning to work with Lovato.
“Is that a message for Demi, should I reach out to her?” the person asked.
“They,” Lizzo replied.
The person then equivocated again with Lovato, asking about “her team” before Lizzo interrupted.
“Her team,” Lizzo emphasized. “Demi goes by ‘they’.”
“Oh, okay, thanks for the correction. You got me,” the person responded as Lizzo walked away.

Lovato later thanked Lizzo in an Instagram story, writing, “Damn queen I love you thank you thank you thank you thank you.”
Lovato publicly came out as non-binary in May.
“For the past year and a half, I’ve been doing healing and self-reflection work.
And through this work, I’ve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary,” they said on their 4D With Demi Lovato podcast.
