Jimmy Kimmel criticized Caitlyn Jenner for comments she made on Fox News about people who are homeless in California.
Jimmy Kimmel criticized and slammed candidate Caitlyn Jenner as “ignorant”
Jenner, who is running for governor in California, told Sean Hannity earlier this week that her wealthy friends are leaving Californian because of the state’s homeless population.
She specifically cited a friend who, she said, was “packing up his hangar” at an airport….
“The guy across the street, he was packing up his hangar,” Jenner said. “And he says, ‘I’m going to Sedona, Arizona. I can’t take it anymore.
I can’t walk down the streets and see the homeless.'”
Jenner’s critics on social media called the comments insensitive, and Kimmel owned the sentiment Thursday night on an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”
“Is it transphobic to call a trans person an ignorant jerk?” asked Kimmel.
“Or does calling that trans person an ignorant jerk – even if they happen to be a trans person – show that we don’t discriminate against ignorant jerks regardless of their specific gender orientation?” It’s a tough issue.” He added.
“I think tomorrow we’ll let the Internet decide.”
Jenner, a longtime Republican, announced her candidacy for California governor in April as part of the so-called recall election against Gavin Newsom, the Democratic incumbent.
Wednesday’s interview with Hannity on Fox News was her first major television interview since announcing her candidacy.
“This state has done a lot to me over the years,” he said with Hannity.
“But I‘ve considered it crumbling before my eyes. California is worth fighting for, and that’s what I’m doing.”
A video of Jenner arguing with Hannity about packing the plane’s hangar was trending.
