Indian man found alive after spending night in hospital morgue freezer
Srikesh Kumar was taken to a clinic in critical condition after being hit by a motorcycle in Moradabad, east of the capital, New Delhi.
He was shifted to a private medical center, where the doctor pronounced him dead on arrival, and was then transferred to a public hospital for autopsy on Friday.
“The emergency doctor examined him. He found no sign of life and so declared him dead,” said Rajendra Kumar, medical superintendent of the hospital.
The doctor said police were informed and the body was placed in the morgue freezer until his family arrived six hours later.
“When a police team and his family approached to start autopsy formalities, they found him alive,” he added.
Rajendra Kumar said the 45-year-old man was receiving further treatment, but was still in a coma.
“This is nothing short of a miracle,” he added.
An investigation is underway into how doctors mistakenly declared him dead.
