A golf professional Gene Siller is shot and killed Saturday while at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, according to local reports and the Georgia State Golf Association.

Gene Siller was shot on the Pinetree Country Club golf course by a man who drove a white pickup truck into a sand trap, according to local reports.
“All of us at the GSGA are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred today at Pinetree CC.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” the Golf Association tweeted Saturday.
Siller, who was 40, was a member of the Pinetree Country Club staff and had previously served as director of golf and head golf professional at Summit Chase Country Club.
Since 2007, Siller had regularly competed in Georgia PGA Section golf tournaments, the Post reported.
“Tragedy has struck the Georgia Section PGA with the loss of our member, Gene Siller. Thoughts and prayers for his family,” the Georgia PGA tweeted.
Siller, a husband and father of two, was responding to a problem on the course’s 10th hole when a man in a white pickup truck stopped his vehicle in a nearby sand trap, Siller went to talk to the man in the vehicle, when he was suddenly shot and later died.
The KSU Office of Emergency Management tweeted Saturday that the suspect “is a Hispanic male considered armed and dangerous.”
