The giant baby weighed nearly seven kilos at birth and is already considered the third largest newborn in the UK.
Giant baby weighing almost seven kilos is born in UK
In the United Kingdom, the birth of a giant baby went viral, as the newborn weighed almost seven kilos, something that neither the parents nor the doctors expected, as none of the ultrasounds revealed the baby’s large size.
Alpha, the son of Cherral Mitchell, 31, and her husband Tyson, 35, weighed 6.700 kilos and became the third largest child ever born in the United Kingdom, as the weight of newborns usually hovers between 2.5 and 4.5 kilos.
Because of his large size, the doctor at Oxford Hospital, who delivered the baby, had to call for help because of the complicated situation with the unexpected birth of a giant baby.
The couple said that finding out about Cherral’s pregnancy had been a surprise and the size of their son was another unexpected event, because although her belly was big, it was not big enough to carry a baby weighing almost seven kilos: “My stomach was big but not that big, so I don’t know where it was hiding,” said the mother.
At seven kilos, Alpha is the third largest baby in the UK
The giant baby’s mom noted that after the birth the nurses went Googling to see if he was the biggest baby in the country and found that there were two others who outweighed him.
“The nurses said he had to be the biggest baby and they were Googling on their phones.”
So they concluded that Alpha is the third largest baby in the UK, behind Guy Carr, the record-holding child born in 1992 weighing 7.03 kilos; followed by George King, born in 2013, weighing 7 kilos.
