The meeting coincides with negotiations in Congress to urge police reform, which appears stalled.

The family will then meet with several senators from both parties, but Crump declined to have the lawmakers identified.
Floyd died on May 25, 2020, after ex-cop Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into the African-American’s neck, 9 minutes and 29 seconds as he reiterated that he could not breathe.
Floyd’s death enabled the largest racially motivated demonstrations and riots in the U.S. in the late 1960s after the assassination of Martin Luther King.
In mid-April, Chauvin was convicted of murder by a jury and now awaits sentencing, which will be read in a Minneapolis courtroom on June 16.
At the same time, lawmakers from the Democratic and Republican parties are trying to reach an agreement on police reform to end police abuses.
The bill, dubbed the “George Floyd Fairness in Policing Act,” aims to end the use of chokehold techniques, the “legal immunity” of officers.
Biden has expressed his support for the bill and has asked Congress to reach an agreement…
