Fully vaccinated people in the U.S.

can drop their masks and stop being distant in indoor and outdoor areas and outdoors, the CDC said in the new guidelines Thursday and marked a milestone in the coronavirus pandemic, which the country more than a year has taken.

“If you’re fully vaccinated, you can start doing things you’ve stopped doing because of the pandemic,” CDC Director Rochelle Walenky said at a White House briefing.

Walensky described the new manual as an “exciting and powerful moment.”

“We all longed for this moment when we can take back a sense of normalcy,” she said.

This moment has arrived for those who are fully vaccinated.

“The new guidance provides for anyone who is fully vaccinated – and who has passed the two-week mark of their last vaccination pressure – to participate in activities large or small, both indoors and outdoors, without the need to wear a mask or physical distance.”

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, President Joe Biden told reporters that the news was a “major milestone.”

“Today is a great day for America in our long battle against Coronavirus,” he said.

Walenky advised the immunosuppressed to talk to their doctors before forgoing the masks.
