The married couple of Linda and Cal Dunham died Sunday from the coronavirus while holding hands, even though they were both fully vaccinated.
Fully vaccinated Michigan couple dies of COVID while holding hands
The husband, 59, and wife, 66, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, contracted the disease in early September before a family camping trip. Both had underlying health problems.
“Dad called me before our family camping trip and said he wasn’t feeling well, but he thinks it’s like sinusitis, and Linda caught it and said I caught her cold,” daughter Sarah Dunham detailed to Fox17.
After three days of camping, the couple packed up because they were feeling under the weather.
Cal Dunham proudly posted his vaccination status on Facebook in May, to which friends commented that they had been vaccinated. “Awesome,” Cal responded in his post.
A Go Fund Me page has been created “to ease the burden of final arrangements for two of the most beautiful people.” The page creator stated that they “received their angel wings within a minute of each other.” Cal passed away at 11:07 and Linda at 11:08.”
According to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study, those who are not vaccinated are four and a half times more likely to be infected with the covirus, 10 times more likely to be hospitalized and 11 times more likely to die from the disease.
However, the data suggest that immunity may decline over time after being vaccinated.
According to the research, protection against covirus was 91% in the spring, but declined to 78% in June and July.
Biden has recommended that people receive boosters eight months after the second vaccination. For its part, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the third dose of Pfizer’s vaccine six months after the second injection.
