‘Fast and Furious’ star Dwayne Johnson spoke about his possible presidential run in the wake of a poll revealing that nearly 50% of those surveyed wanted to see him as president.
Dwayne Johnson talks about a possible presidential run
The actor has indicated that it’s something he would consider, and he spoke about it again this week in an interview with People in which he discussed a poll that revealed that nearly 50% of respondents wanted to see him as president of the United States.
“When 46% of Americans say they are in favor of me being president, that forces me to stand up, listen and learn with humility and respect,” said Dwayne
“I love our country to the core and am infinitely grateful for the opportunities I had here, a half-black, half-Samoan kid who can work and work his butt off to know that tenacity leaves doors open,” he continued.
This is not the first time Johnson has talked about running for president.
Commenting on the recent Newsweek poll earlier this year, the former WWE wrestler said it would be an “honor” to serve the country.
“I don’t think our Founding fathers ever envisioned a 6-4, bald, tattooed, half-black, half-Samoan, tequila-drinking kid joining their club, but if it ever happens, it would be an honor to serve them.”
The actor has also admitted that he is not ruling out politics for his future.
“I can’t deny that the idea of being governor and the idea of being president is appealing. But there are many other things I want to do first,” he said.
In another media interview, he even shared what he would do as president.
“With any job you have to prove yourself, Johnson said. Personally, I think if I were president, balance would be important.”
