Disney World celebrates 50 years as the world’s largest set of theme parks, with announcements of new attractions and the debut of new experiences.
Disney World turns 50 with promise to keep creating magic
Tonight will officially kick off 18 months of celebrations to commemorate the opening of the Magic Kingdom park on Oct.
1, 1971.
Disney announced Thursday that in 2022 it will open two of its major new features, the ‘Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’ hotel and the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’ attraction at the EPCOT theme park.
Nearly 58 million people visit Disney World each year, a complex that includes four of the ten most visited theme parks in the world.
Star Wars-inspired Hotel
The new “Star Wars”-inspired hotel promises guests to embark on a spaceship for three days and two nights of full interactive immersion, interact with familiar characters from the saga and take lightsaber lessons.
The hotel will open its doors on March 1, 2022 and will accept the first reservations starting next October 28.
Guardians of the Galaxy at Disney
‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’ will open during 2022 in to offer an intergalactic chase through space and time.
The creators claim that these attractions include one of the world’s largest indoor roller coasters and, through new technology, will spin audiences 360 degrees inside the world of this Marvel saga.
EPCOT gets a makeover
This Friday sees the premiere of the four-dimensional family attraction ‘Remy’s Ratatuille Adventure’, and the night show of music, lights, lasers, water, fireworks and giant screens: ‘Harmonious’, uses fifteen well-known Disney movie songs to send a message of unity and features 240 artists from around the world and thirteen languages, including Luis Fonsi.
The Puerto Rican, along with Joy Huerta of the Mexican duo Jesse & Joy, performs part of the song “Remember Me” from the movie “Coco”.
And in Magic Kingdom, the big star of the Disney world, ‘Disney Enchantment’ opens this Friday, which will kick off “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” with a new version of the traditional show that lights up Cinderella’s Castle every night, although this time, as a novelty, it will also reach Main Street.
