Demi Lovato, a pop singer who recently identified as non-binary, discusses how her family is adjusting to using her new personal pronoun “they/them”.
“I took this time to define what really felt right for me”. “after a year and a half of meditating on the situation, I realized it was time for the world to know,” said Lovato.
Demi Lovato told how her family is learning the use of her new pronoun after declaring her gender non-binary
During an interview Thursday, Demi Lovato recounted how she made the decision to share her non-binary gender identity with the world.
“I took this time to define what really felt right for me,” said Lovato, who then added that “after a year and a half of meditating on the situation, I realized it was time for the world to know.”
To the above, she added the strange feeling she gets every time someone uses the feminine pronoun “she”.
“I understand that people might have a hard time adjusting to this, because it’s something new, but I’d love for them to give it a try,” she explained.
On the other hand, Lovato also explained that she feels great excitement to see how it is that her family is trying to adjust to her new pronoun.
“I noticed that my older sister, Dallas, the other day started using the pronouns “they/them,” and really just the fact that they are trying makes me feel great joy in my heart,” Lovato commented.
However, Demi Lovato confessed that her close friends are having a harder time using her new pronoun.
“It’s only because they’re the only ones that someone can be addressed as ‘bitch’ with.”
You failed at it, though. Damn, you’re talking about their new pronouns, the least you can do is use them too.
