Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s lawyer launched a new attack on the credibility of the state attorney general and some of the women whose sexual harassment allegations prompted his resignation.

On Sept. 13, Cuomo’s attorney, Rita Glavin, sent a letter to Assembly Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Lavine, committee members and their attorneys.
In it, Glavin warns the committee not to take at face value Attorney General Letitia James’ blockbuster August report on Cuomo and doubles down on earlier criticism of James, who Glavin says made “material omissions and errors” in the report, which ultimately led to Cuomo’s downfall.
It comes as the commission prepares its own report on its investigation of Cuomo, which was originally intended to indict him but changed course after his resignation.
Glavin reiterated other previous attacks on the James report, writing that it was “designed to achieve a predetermined outcome and for maximum political consequences,” but noted that Cuomo’s legal team would not yet have a full rebuttal of the James report “for several weeks.”
Glavin then cites “several examples that demonstrate glaring deficiencies” in the James report.
Glavin points to two incidents that occurred during Bennett’s time as a student at Hamilton College that seem destined to undermine its credibility.
Glavin also contends in his letter that Bennett is alluded to in a federal lawsuit alleging that four students are linked to false allegations of sexual misconduct against a student there.
Glavin claims that one of those students was Bennett.
The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed in 2018 because it was settled or “in the process of being settled,” court records show.
Bennett’s attorney, Debra Katz, criticized Glavin’s statements about her client as “false, defamatory and disgusting.”
