Covid-19 deaths in the U.S.
are lost at an average of about 600 per day – the lowest level in 10 months – and the number of life lost has dropped in halves of states and has reached zero on some days.
Meanwhile, confirmed infections have dropped on average to around 38,000 per day, with the lowest marks occurring in mid-September.
While this remains a cause for concern, there has been an 85% drop from the peak of more than a quarter of a million cases per day in early January.
The last time deaths were deeper was in early July, almost a year ago.
Covid-19 deaths in the U.S. reached a January high averaging more than 3,400 daily, just one month into the largest vaccination campaign in the nation’s history.
Kansas reported no new deaths from Friday through Monday.
Dr.
Amesh Adalja, a Käsche Crane infection specialist at Johns Hopkins University, said the vaccines were crucial as the nation is also struggling to achieve herd immunity.
“The main goal is to deny this virus the ability to kill at the rate it could, and that has been achieved,” he said.
