Police are investigating after the scandal of a couple having doggy-style sex behind the altar of a church in the Belgian town of Bree went viral, sparking widespread outrage.
Couple videotapes themselves having sex in front of the altar
A couple could be in serious trouble after filming themselves having sex behind the altar in a church in Belgium.
The couple was seen having sex “doggy style” behind an altar and prompted a police investigation.
The images surfaced online, sparking outrage after they were recorded inside the Sint-Michielskerk church in the town of Bree.
The images show a naked woman crouching down while the man films her from behind. The man appears to be filming with one hand, while the other can occasionally be seen touching the woman’s waist.
The identity of the couple is still unknown and it is not known whether the images were released or deliberately leaked.
It is still unclear when the scene was filmed, but church members believe it may have occurred on October 27. Local reports suggest that the video began to be distributed via WhatsApp before spreading on social media.
The church is a publicly accessible building, so anyone can enter it.
Police are investigating the incident
According to news site Het Nieuwsblad, police are investigating the incident as photography in a public place and dissemination of images. The mayor of Bree, Liesbeth Van der Auwera, stated, “The police announced that a double complaint had been officially established.”
Sint-Michielskerk Church spokesman Ernest Essers said the incident had “overstepped all bounds of decency, respect and justice.”
He said he had received the video via WhatsApp on October 29 and added: “It is a public defamation.
We will file a complaint with the police.” Due to the long All Saints’ weekend, this would have happened on Wednesday, October 27,” he speculated.
