The payments are intended to incentivize people who feel unwell to go to the hospital and get tested. When the test result is positive, the person receives the sum of money.
The measure does not affect residents with covid-19 who were detected through the coronavirus contact tracing system.
Citizens are also advised to go to the hospital if they have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness, diarrhea or loss of taste and not to self-medicate.
China has registered a total of almost 112,000 cases of coronavirus and has more than 1 billion people vaccinated with the full vaccination regimen, which constitutes 79.45% of the country’s population.
