A Chicago mother fatally shot her 12-year-old son in the head Saturday morning in a fit of anger over a missing memory card, prosecutors allege.
Chicago mom allegedly shot her 12-year-old son to death in anger over missing memory card
Fallon Harris, 37, was charged with first-degree murder after the death of her son, Kaden Ingram, at her home on Chicago’s south side.
Kaden was found unconscious on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds to the head, and prosecutors alleged in court Sunday that Harris was caught in a home security system firing the second, fatal shot.
The incident began mid-morning Saturday when Harris confronted his son about the whereabouts of a digital memory card he had taken out of his car Friday night.
According to prosecutors, the situation escalated when Kaden told his mother that he didn’t know where the memory card was. Harris allegedly pointed a silver revolver at the boy and fired a nonfatal shot to his head.
Wood said audio evidence recovered from the home security system revealed that the first shot left the 12-year-old “conscious and crying.”
Prosecutors alleged that as Kaden lay wounded on the floor, Harris received a phone call and then returned to demand the memory card again. Kaden told his mother again that he did not know where the memory card was, and then she fired a second fatal shot at the 12-year-old.
At that point, Wood claims Harris called two family members and admitted that she had shot her son over the missing memory card.
He now faces a single count of first-degree murder.
