The statue will be called Christ the Protector. It will be 43 metres tall (140 feet) when it is finished, which will make it one of the world’s tallest statues of Christ.
Christ the Redeemer stands over Rio de Janiero and is 38 metres tall (124 feet), it spans 28 metres (91 feet) from hand to hand.
It’s set to cost about 2 million reals (£260,000)
And is being looked after by the Association of the Friends of Christ.
The money has been donated by individuals and companies, according to the association.
It will also have an internal lift which will take tourists to a viewpoint that will be in the chest area of the statue.
The idea for the project came from politican and city mayor Adroaldo Conzatti, Who died in March from coronavirus complications.
At the moment, Brazil is battling Covid-19, With the death toll in the country currently sitting at more than 350,000.
