Billie Eilish has responded to criticism over her recent Vogue covers, where an edited image of a Daily Mail headline has been posted on her Instagram story.
Billie Eilish responds to criticism over her new look on the cover of Vogue
The 19-year-old ‘Bad Guy‘ singer has completely changed her eyes for the photo shoot, which deviates from her usual baggy clothes and a black and green hair to a completely different style.
However, some took it upon themselves to criticize her look, and now Billie has responded, particularly criticizing a Daily Mail headline.
The publication had written, “Proof that money can make you change your values and sell out” Billie has corrected with, ” Proof that women can change their minds and can claim autonomy over their own bodies.”
The original headline continued, “Billie Eilish shocks fans by swapping baggy clothes for lingerie in Vogue – despite vowing to “hide her body.”
However, here Billie has modified the last part of that text to read “despite years of being a real girl.”
In the Vogue interview, she fleshed out her thoughts on the body curtain in the media and in her career.
Speaking to journalist Laura Snapes for British Vogue said Eilish: “My thing is I can do whatever I want.”
Adding, “Suddenly you’re a hypocrite when you teach you want to show your skin, and you’re plain, and you’re a slut.”
But she explained that she wants to flip the narrative, saying, “Let it be flipped around and allowed.
Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – shouldn’t take away your respect.”
