Billie Eilish is accused of queerbaiting, some of her followers misunderstood the singer and are now accusing her of lying to appeal to LGBTQ+ audiences.
Billie Eilish is once again accused of ‘queerbaiting’ for her latest Instagram post
Last week Billie Eilish posted a series of images on Instagram in which she appeared accompanied by a group of women.
In the suggestive photographs the singer appeared sharing fun with a group of girls her age, but what caught the most attention was the text that accompanied the images.
This was seen by some netizens as a confession of her sexuality as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I love girls,” she wrote.

Other images that the artist has not shared on social networks are those that have long documented her relationship with her would-be partner, actor Matthew Tyler Vorce, who could be the “secret boyfriend” she talked about in her documentary.
The statement on Instagram about the girls plus the secrecy surrounding her relationship with the actor prompted many of her followers to take to the interwebs that weekend to rebuke Eilish for her ambiguity.
Under the hashtag #youlikegirls, which trended on Twitter on Sunday, many users accused the singer of ‘queerbaiting’.
This is a term used for creators who try to appeal to LGBTQ+ audiences only for purely commercial purposes.
This is not the first time Eilish has been accused of this. In 2019, she faced another controversy that pitted her fans against each other for the song Wish You Were Gay.
In her Instagram post, one user wrote: “Performing sexually with girls to attract more audience is disgusting.”
While another added: “It’s like confessing something one moment and then being straight… sorry girlfriend this is called ‘queerbaiting’.
